Looking for something magical to do this weekend that doesn’t involve a certain boy wizard?
I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out that the Phoenix Faerie Festival will be taking place 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Estrella Mountain Regional Park, 14805 W. Vineyard Ave., Goodyear.
This celebration of folklore and fantasy includes a market bazaar, visits from fantasy artists (Ragen Mendenhall, Su Von Mazo and Courtney Leigh) and authors (Janni Lee Simner, Jannette Rallison, Kenny Klein and Renea Spidell), two stages of music and dance and a general fanciful atmosphere suitable for all ages. Try your luck at bartering for unusual wares at the Goblin Market. Saturday night will see a mischievous revel of goblins, trolls and ogres for Queen Mab’s Bad Faerie Ball.
Online ticket sales have ended, but they’re available at the gate (cash only) for $10. Children ages 5 and younger are admitted for free. Blankets and lawn chairs are welcome, but no pets or outside food will be allowed. Ticket sales close at 6 p.m. and no one will be admitted after 7 p.m. Flashlights or lanterns are encouraged after dark. Parking fees are $6 per day per car.
