We awoke to the promised teaser for Star Wars: The Force Awakens on iTunes, as it was debuting in select theaters across the continent this Black Friday. Here are some select but iconic scenes captured for analysis. Spoilers ahead.
“There has been an awakening. Have you felt it?”
John Boyega’s character, a stormtrooper spooked. He’s definitely awake now!
Cool droid. Astromech-style head on a gyroscopic body, good for negotiating rough desert terrain.
The new stormtrooper helmets and armor in action, worn by a squad preparing to disembark a drop ship of some kind.
Daisy Ridley’s character on a boxy speeder.
Alliance pilot! (Oscar Issac.)
X-Wings skimming the water. The S-foil wings seem to be segmented for opening, rather than stacked.
A dark-robed villainous type (the narrator?) on the prowl with a tricked-out lightsaber. “The dark side …”
“… and the light!”
The Millennium Falcon does a dainty pirouette over a desert landscape …
… But the aerobatics aren’t just for show, of course: The last scene of the trailer before the film’s title card shows some classic TIE Fighters attacking the Falcon. Note the rectangular sensor dish, as opposed to the round one that got knocked off during the attack run on the second Death Star.
