New G4 partners with Wizards of the Coast for D&D Live 2021

Wizards of the Coast and the resurrected G4 are partnering for D&D Live 2021, a special two-day streaming event on July 16-17 and continuing with four all-new limited-run campaign series to premiere on G4 this fall.

D&D Live 2021 presented by G4

“D&D Live 2021 is going to be an innovative event with new forms of interactivity for a live streaming audience and the perfect D&D introduction for new audiences,” said Brian Terwilliger, VP of programming and creative strategy at G4. “We’re thrilled to partner with Wizards of the Coast to give fans adventure, comedy, and an incredibly entertaining journey into the theater of the mind.”

“D&D Live has been such an exciting event for both fans and Wizards, and it’s amazing how it has grown each year. In 2021, we are expanding D&D Live’s impact by partnering with G4,” said Nathan Stewart, head of franchise at Wizards of the Coast. “With G4 joining our party, we aim to bring even more fans to Dungeons & Dragons by showcasing friends adventuring together.”

D&D Live 2021 will take place on the 16th and 17th of Flamerule (which is equivalent to “July” in the Forgotten Realms calendar in case you were rusty). The two-day event will feature four games with star-studded casts playing with expert DMs, as well as hosted content featuring games, interviews, special product announcements, a Dungeon Master roundtable, and exclusive giveaways for those with high enough INT rolls. The timing and casts will be announced soon.

This “alignment” will continue through G4’s official launch later this year as the two brands party up for a limited series premiering after the network’s launch. The series will follow four campaigns with a mix of G4 talent, veteran D&D players, and celebrities for a new generation of D&D fans.

“As we continue to interact with our audience leading up to the launch of the network, one of the most resounding requests was for tabletop gaming content,” said Kevin Sabbe, head of content at G4. “This partnership reinforces our focus on authentic gaming content that will entertain existing D&D fans and those new to the world of tabletop as well.”

The announcement comes as G4 continues its Epic April celebration. Previous announcements include G4’s partnership with WWE for a competition video game series, the return of the fan-favorite classic Ninja Warrior to the network, and the introduction of Alex “Goldenboy” Mendez and Kassem G as G4’s newest cast members.

D&D Live 2021 Is a Heavy Metal Affair

Dungeons & Dragons and G4 have assembled a studious and accomplished crew of adventurers to bring D&D Live 2021 to life on July 16 & 17. The two-day event will feature continuous entertainment designed for fans’ enjoyment including essential information on upcoming D&D storylines, Magic: The Gathering sets, and secret projects. Four two-hour D&D games will be presented and today D&D announced the lineup of one extremely consequential table G4 is dubbing Lost Odyssey: Last Light. Veteran daredevils known for perfecting the science of swashbuckling, Jack Black, Reggie Watts, Lauren Lapkus, Kevin Smith, and Jason Mewes will be led by stern Dungeon Master Kate Welch in a very serious investigation into dragons, krakens and sea giant queens. Another very special guest will be making an appearance and will be revealed closer to the event.

“Holy crap, are you sure you want to put these people around a D&D table with me? I’m pretty sure it’s going to be bedlam, but maybe that’s what D&D Live is all about,” said Kate Welch, perhaps remembering the Cast of Thrones table she presided over last year. “In all honesty, I’m honored to weave a tale for this group of incredibly funny folks. It’ll be a session you won’t forget!”

The players of the Lost Odyssey: Last Light table have chosen Extra Life as the charity they will be raising money for during the event. You can get the jump on the event and donate to their cause here.

WWE Superstars enter the Chaos Carnival …

Meet the players of The Chaos Carnival Table, featuring some of the WWE’s most adventurous
superstars:

  • Xavier Woods: A jack-of-all-trades, this Georgia native is both WWE Superstar and G4 host.
Woods combines brain power with star power to be one of WWE’s most versatile Superstars.
  • Ember Moon: Ember Moon’s rapid ascension up the ranks of WWE is owed to the three
attributes that she says define her best: Skill, honor, and heart. You can bet the War Goddess
will bring all three of those attributes to the table.
  • MACE: Part of the masked group of Retribution, MACE will undoubtedly bring an unsettling sense
of danger to an already nefarious storyline at the table.
  • Tyler Breeze: Don’t let the nickname Prince Pretty fool you – Tyler Breeze is as deadly as they
come. Other players at the table will need to be cautious as they navigate with the selfie stunner
    rolling the dice.

Leading the table on its quest for completion is Dungeon Master Aabria Iyengar, who will help the WWE
Superstars navigate the Chaos Carnival.

“It’s no coincidence that the storyline I have prepared for WWE Superstars involves high-flying attractions
and wildly dangerous stakes,” said Dungeon Master, Aabira Iyengar. “Each player at the table lost
something precious to them at the Chaos Carnival years ago…can they unravel the secrets below the Big
Top before they become the next main attraction?”

Tiffany Haddish, cast of A.P. Bio & more …

On July 7, D&D Live announced the remaining star-studded players and tables including:

  • Patton Oswalt, Nick Peine, Allisyn Snyder, Jacob Houston, and Marisa Baram of Peacock’s A.P. BIO join Dungeon Master B. Dave Walters’ for The Palace of the Vampire Queen Table
  • DrLupo, Negaoryx, and Ify Nwadiwe join G4’s Kevin Pereira, Adam Sessler, and Fiona Nova for Dungeon Master Amy Vorpal’s The Flubbybonks and Guzzleshucks Table
  • Plus a bonus table! Join the special Beadle & Grimm’s Faster, Purple Worm! Kill! Kill! Table featuring Seth Green, Deborah Ann Woll, Xander Jeanneret, and B. Dave Walters
