Rupert Murdoch has a message for Avatar fans who want a sequel: “Don’t hold your breath.”
The News. Corp. chairman and CEO said in a quarterly earnings conference call that talks are in the early stages, but his conglomerate, which includes the movie studio 20th Century Fox, “will be pushing for” a sequel to James Cameron’s 3-D epic. He was careful to remind the sycophants analysts listening in that the director is famous for taking his time.
Murdoch also discussed the Avatar DVD release, which he said would be released in the current fiscal year that ends June 30. That also means it won’t reflect the groundbreaking 3-D presentation many moviegoers saw in theaters, since the technology hasn’t come home yet.
