After getting robbed of an Emmy with his first nomination last year, Jim Parsons was finally honored this weekend with the award for best lead actor in a comedy series for his work as the neurotic theoretical physicist Sheldon Cooper in CBS’ The Big Bang Theory.

Parsons beat out some pretty serious competition, including three-time winner Tony Shalhoub for the final season of Monk, Steve Carell of The Office and Alec Baldwin, who won the past two years’ awards for 30 Rock.

“Now I know how much I didn’t think this was going to happen,” Parsons said in his acceptance speech, according to The Associated Press. “Some of you apparently voted for me. That was very sweet.”

Nerds everywhere can celebrate by playing Rock-Paper-Scissors-Spock-Lizard, indulging in Vintage Video Game Night or sorting their cereal numerically by fiber content.
