Playing video games for 24 hours straight may seem like an idea reserved for crazy people, but local gamers are undertaking the challenge to benefit charity. This Saturday morning marks the official start to the Extra Life Game Day.
The Game Day is where participants are challenged to play video, board, or any other type of game for 24 hours straight in order to raise money for local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The event also encourages participants to broadcast their play-throughs and several local gamers are planning to do just that.
Students from the University of Advancing Technology in Tempe comprise ‘Team Immunity,’ whom plan to host several live streams of their players to reach their goal of $1,000 in donations. Locally based ‘Team Paragon‘ are also planning to stream video games in order to benefit the Phoenix Children’s Hospital. The team has already raised approximately $1,200 of their $1,500 goal for donations and plan to raise more when their broadcasts go live.
Bigger groups plan to get in on the action as well, as popular gaming sites such as GiantBomb, RoosterTeeth, PS Nation, and many more are participating. For more information on broadcasts and teams participating, visit the Extra Life website.
