Ahsoka Tano lives.
In a Star Wars Celebration Europe panel that wasn’t livestreamed but was liveblogged, Clone Wars supervising director and Rebels executive producer Dave Filoni said the former padawan of Anakin Skywalker, last seen walking into the Sith Temple in Malachor after confronting her former master-turned-Sith Lord in the Rebels season two finale, will be back on the show in some form.
Filoni, in the panel with Ahsoka actress Ashley Eckstein (who noted she’s been bringing the character to life for 10 years now), revealed unused Clone Wars arcs involving Ahsoka, including one in which she was targeted as a child by a bounty hunter posing as a Jedi before being saved by Jedi Master Plo Koon.
Other stories involve a teenage coming-of-age romance with a character called Nix in the Coruscant underworld, the discovery of a Sith Temple far beneath the Jedi stronghold, with Ahsoka facing off against Darth Sidious (!) on opposite sides of a door for control of a holocron, as well as her final meeting with Anakin after she left the Jedi Order, rejoining her mentor for the Battle of Mandalore (where she would first duel with Darth Maul) and taking command of half his clone unit, the 501st, along with fan-favorite Captain Rex and other clones who adopt armor inspired by her orange color scheme. They would part just before the infamous Order 66, when the clone troopers turn on their Jedi generals at Sidious’ treacherous command.
There was even a description of the post-Order 66 experience that was planned for Ahsoka — running into a forest that turns out to be a pack of giant wolf-creatures instead of trees, who defend her from the clones.
We may get to see some or all of this content in some form: A young-adult-focused novel, Ahsoka, is due out in October, an updated cover for which was shown off at the “Ahsoka’s Untold Tales” panel.
Who is the artist that did the Ahsoka vs. Vader sketch that is the thumbnail to this article? I’d like to get in contact with them about collaborating on a possible poster from that image. Do they have a gallery online somewhere where I can contact them?
Isn’t it great? I didn’t see the artist identified, but I’m sure it’s a Lucasfilm staff artist who worked on Clone Wars. AND, Filoni himself often does a lot of the sketching. To me, this looks a lot like his work but I’m not sure:
